Stephen J. Pavelka
Stephen J. Pavelka, 87, of Springfield, died at 11:50 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2009 in Good Shepherd Village. He was born January 7, 1922 in Springfield the son of Stephen and Sarah (Barok) Pavelka.
He had worked as a welder for Navistar for a number of years and was the owner of Steve's Carry Out on Croft Road.
He was a member of St. Bernard Church, DAV and was a United States Air Force veteran having served in World War II.
He is survived by six children and spouses, Stephen (Theresa) Pavelka, Christina (Greg) Hay, Anthony (Mary) Pavelka, Geneva Schuff, Mary Ellen Bailey and Patty Pavelka, all of Springfield; two step-daughters, Peggy Teater, Columbus and Mary Anne (Hart) Warren, Phoenix, Arizona; 25 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren and special friends Corky (Millie) Huffman.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty in 1993, four brothers, John, Paul, Cyril and Joseph, two sisters, Helen and Frances and two stepsons, Jim and Michael Deady.
Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home with Fr. Paul Hurst officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church.
